So what are some of the keys to writing a good sales letter? Obviously the best results to have a for a sales letter is a sales conversion. The question of course is how do you go from the sales letter to getting your prospective client to purchasing your services or products. Well having a great sales letter is wonderful but if you never get anyone to read your pitch it will never pay off. So the first key perhaps the most vital step when it comes to a successful sales letter is your initial pitch, the headline of course.
The headline is the eye grabber and your only chance at a first impression for a lot of your potential readers. We live in a fast paced world one in where 30 second commercials seem almost too long for most people now a days. A land where seconds of a home made YouTube video can spread like wildfire all over the world and be seen by millions of people in a matter of days. People are looking for those instant gratification attention getting headlines and if you are not able to put those out there then what you do after your headline will really have no effect for you.
So what are some of the key things to look for when reading headlines and how can you apply that to your sales letter. Well, the best place to look for what kind of headlines are getting the best results is on the internet. More specifically look at some of the more popular social websites that have voting mechanisms in place, like Digg, Stumble or Propeller to name a few. These sites are driven by the headlines that people submit and get voted on. The ones that reach the front pages are the ones that are grabbing the eyes of most people.
People love lists or numbers like the top 3 or 10 reasons why you see numbered lists like those do well because people instinctively get curios about what those 3 things are and they will click the headline to read more. Another clever way to spice up your headlines is to leave a blank in the middle of your statement or at the end, again peaking a persons curiosity and there in lies the key I believe. Getting people curious about what your opening headline is trying to say.
